ArcelorMittal steel reportedly interested in buying Donbas mines

KIEV, June 19 - ArcelorMittal is interested in buying a number of state-owned mines of central Donbas, First Deputy Minister of Energy and Coal Industry Yuriy Ziukov said at a press conference in Kiev.


IMF to arrive in Kiev Tuesday to conduct Stand-By Arrangement review

KIEV, June 19 – A mission of the International Monetary Fund is to arrive in Ukraine on June 24 to conduct the first review of the Stand-By Arrangement, after which the fund will decide on the disbursal of the second tranche of the SBA loan, Director of the IMF's Communications Department Jerry Rice said at a press briefing in Washington on Thursday.

Ukraine working to reduce Russian gas consumption, says official

MOSCOW, June 21 - Ukraine is working to reduce the amount of Russian gas consumed by Ukrainian businesses, Naftogaz Ukrayiny chief Yevhen Bakulin said at the Petroleum and Gas Congress in Moscow on Tuesday.


Chernobyl donations have grown to EUR700 million, says official

KIEV, June 22 - The sum of donor funds to finance Chernobyl projects has grown to some EUR 700 million.

"We have almost EUR 700 million. Let's remind that the procedure is the following: first a country declares a desire to contribute funds, and then under a schedule it sends donations every year," State Agency for the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone Management Chairman Volodymyr Kholosha said.


DTEK to allocate land for Zaporizhia and Donetsk wind farms

KIEV, June 22 - DTEK is planning to finish a procedure for land plot allocation by 2012 to build wind farms - DTEK Pryazovsky in Zaporizhia region and DTEK Manhush in Donetsk region.

Director of Wind Power Ltd., a subsidiary of DTEK, Yuriy Zhabsky said at the presentation of the Power of Nature national project in Kiev on Tuesday that the company has finalized a procedure for land allocation and leased a land plot to build a pilot Botiyeve wind power plant in Zaporizhia region.


Antonov and Russia’s Ilyushin Finance sign deal for 10 An-158s

KIEV, June 22 - Ukraine's Antonov aircraft maker and Russian aircraft leasing company Ilyushin Finance Co. yesterday signed a contract for the supply of 10 An-158 airliners at the 49th Paris Air Show at Le Bourget.


Naftogaz chairman predicts compromise in Gazprom natgas price talks

KIEV, June 22 – Naftogaz Ukrayiny expects to reach a compromise with Russia's Gazprom in talks on the price of Russian natural gas and guarantees of gas transit through Ukraine, Naftogaz CEO Yevhen Bakulin said at the ninth Russian Petroleum and Gas Congress held in Moscow on June 21-23.
