Oplot tank startup cost low at $30 million, says plant director

KIEV, Aug. 22 – The expenses on the start of mass production of the Ukrainian Oplot main battle tank at the Kharkiv-based Malyshev Plant are estimated at $30 million, which is about one-fourth the expenses on the start of mass production of similar modern tanks in other countries, Malyshev Plant Director General Vadym Fedosov said.

Zaporizhia asks president to help settle ferroalloy plant problems

KIEV, Aug. 21 – Zaporizhia regional administration head Oleksandr Peklushenko has asked the president and prime minister to help in settling the issue of the transfer of the Ferroalloy 2 substation from Zaporizhiaoblenergo to Zaporizhia Ferroalloy Works, which will allow the company to switch from the second to the first electricity consumption class and reduce expenses on electricity.
