National TV and radio council says critics are resisting translation

KIEV, July 22 - The Ukrainian National Council for TV and Radio Broadcasting accused some domestic providers and Russian media of attempting to discredit its activity concerned with translation of foreign programs into the Ukrainian language.


Germany’s HDI Gerling becomes 94.5% shareholder in Alcona insurance

KIEV, July 23 – Germany's HDI-Gerling International Holding &#192;G has become the key shareholder in Alcona insurance company after receiving all needed permits, owning a 94.5% stake in the company, according to the insurer.

The company said that after these changes, Alcona would continue operating on the Ukrainian market after 16 years of work under the HDI Insurance brand.


SPF may cancel Luhansk Airlines purchase by East-Ukrainian metals

KIEV, July 23 – The State Property Fund has proposed to cancel an agreement on the purchase of an 86.98% stake in Luhansk Airlines by East-Ukrainian Metallurgical Company Ltd.

The fund said that the company does not provide timely payments to the local budget. As of May 30, the company's debt on individuals' income tax was UAH54,060.


Interpipe $200m 8.75% 3yr bonds yield 391bps over state issue

Interest in insurance companies to peak soon, says Generali chair

KIEV, July 23 - Peak interest in buying Ukrainian insurance companies will come this year and in the first half of 2008, but in two or three years these companies will be of no interest to investors, chairman of Kiev-based Generali Garant Life Insurance, Stanislav Hotsuliak, told Interfax-Ukraine.


USDA cuts forecast for Ukrainian wheat harvest down to 13m tons
