YTD electricity exports reported up 5.4% to 3.5 billion kWh

KIEV, Dec. 27 - Ukraine in January-November 2016 increased exports of electricity by 5.4% (by 180.2 million kWh) compared to the same period in 2015, to 3.504 billion kWh, a source in the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry has told Interfax-Ukraine.


Coal stockpiled by thermal power plants reported up 10.8% in November

KIEV, Dec. 27 - Coal stocks in the warehouses of thermal power plants (TPP) of Ukraine in November increased by 10.8% and as of December 1, 2016 stood at 2.366 million tons, the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry has told Interfax-Ukraine.

KIEV, Dec. 29 - Coal reserves at Ukraine’s coal-burning power plants decreased 5.8% over the past week to 1.7 million mt as of December 25 from 1.804 million mt as of December 18, UkrEnergo, the company that runs the country’s power grid, reported Thursday.


DTEK to import 100,000 tons of Polish coal to make up for shortages

KIEV, Dec. 29 - Ukraine’s largest privately-owned mining and power generating company DTEK plans to import 100,000 metric tons of coal from Poland in the first two months of 2017 to compensate for domestic shortages, the company reported Thursday.


Russia hasn't responded to Ukraine $3 billion debt offer, envoy says

KIEV, Dec. 21 – Russia has not forwarded a formal counterproposal on the restructuring of Ukraine's $3 billion eurobond debt, after rejecting Kiev's proposal within the debt restructuring scheme, Ukrainian debt envoy Vitaliy Lisovenko said.

Cabinet of ministers proposes changes to transport tax on cars

KIEV, Dec. 22 – The Cabinet of Ministers has proposed that the collection of transport tax on cars with engines of over 3,000 cubic centimeters and aged up to five years be replaced by tax collected on cars that cost more than 750 minimum wages (UAH 1.03 million in 2016) and aged up to five years.


Chernivtsi to get €14 million financing package for heating services

KIEV, Dec. 22 – The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the Eastern Europe Energy Efficiency and Environment Partnership (E5P) and the Clean Technology Fund (CTF) are providing a financing package of up to EUR 14 million to Chernivtsi aimed at improving the municipal district heating services.


Cabinet of ministers proposes 13% increase for fuel excise duties

KIEV, Dec. 22 – The Cabinet of Ministers has proposed that Parliament increase the excise duties on fuel by 13% during H1 2016, and raise the rate for gasoline from EUR 202 per ton to EUR 228 per ton.
