Ukraine’s illegal cigarette market share may grow to 10%, JTI warns

KYIV, Sept 23 – The illegal cigarette market in Ukraine in 2019 could grow by 5.6 percentage points (pp), expanding to 10%.

"The illegal tobacco market in Ukraine over the past three years has grown sevenfold - from 1.1% in 2016 to 7.2% in the first half of 2019 and continues to grow. According to our forecasts, by the end of this year it may make up 10%," Manager for communications with state authorities at JTI Ukraine Yulia Yuschenko said at a press conference on Friday.


Ukraine’s industrial output drops 1.7% on year in August

KYIV, Sept 23 – Industrial production in Ukraine in August 2019 fell by 1.7% compared with August 2018 after a decline by 0.2% in July (on July 2018) and by 2.3% in June (on June 2018), the State Statistics Service has reported.


Lawmakers approve bill introducing cash registers to risky industries

KYIV, Sept 23 – Parliament passed at second reading bill No. 1053-1, which provides for the introduction of cash registers from October 1 for risky industries and 2021 for the rest of the sectors, and also increases the annual income limit for the second group of taxpayers using the simplified taxation scheme from the current UAH 1.5 million to UAH 2.5 million.


Nine Ukraine banks need UAH56 billion more capital, stress tests show

KIEV, Sept. 22 – Nine out of the 15 largest banks in which stress tests were conducted will require additional capitalization, said Alla Shulha, director of the general banking supervision department of the National Bank of Ukraine.
