AMC blocks domestic producer from supplying equipment to nuke plants

KIEV, Nov. 20 – Ukraine's Antimonopoly Committee has blocked the supply of critically important equipment for Ukrainian nuclear power plants from a domestic producer, having satisfied a claim of a company representing Russian producers, EnergoAtom announced.


NBU includes VAB Bank in list of insolvent financial institutions

KIEV, Nov. 21 – The National Bank of Ukraine has included Kiev-based VAB Bank into the category of insolvent banks, the NBU said in a statement.

"On November 20, the NBU board… passed resolution No. 733 to include PJSC All-Ukrainian Joint-Stock Bank [VAB Bank], into the category of insolvent banks. In keeping with the laws, the Individuals' Deposit Guarantee Fund as of November 21, 2014, introduced provisional administration at the said bank," the statement reads.


Gas reserves down 11.5% so far this heating season, Ukrtransgaz says

KIEV, Nov. 24 - Ukraine has lowered natural gas reserves in its underground gas storage facilities by 11.5%, or by 1.92 million cubic meters, since the start of the 2014-2015 heating season, according to preliminary data from gas transport operator Ukrtransgaz.


Ukraine to buy 1 billion cubic meters of gas monthly from Russia

BRATISLAVA, Nov. 24 - Ukraine will buy 1 billion cubic meters of natural gas from Russia by the end of the year and up to that same amount monthly through the winter, Naftogaz Chief Executive Andriy Kobolyev said on Monday, Reuters reported.


Russia unexpectedly cuts coal supplies to TsentrEnergo and DTEK plants

KIEV, Nov. 24 - Russia unexpectedly suspended supplies of coal to major Ukrainian fossil fuel-burning power plants owned by TsentrEnergo and DTEK, the Energy and Coal Industry Minister Yuriy Prodan said Monday.


EnergoAtom reports paying $423 million for nuke fuel through Sept. 30

KIEV, Nov. 21 - Ukrainian atomic energy corporation EnergoAtom purchased fresh nuclear fuel worth $423.912 million in January-September, the State Statistics Service said.

All of the purchases were from Russian nuclear fuel supplier TVEL.


DTEK to spend UAH483 million to rebuild Zaporizhia plant third unit

KIEV, Nov. 21 - DTEK, Ukraine's largest private energy holding, will spend UAH 483 million for the reconstruction and modernization of the third power unit of Zaporizhia thermal power plant of power generating company PJSC DTEK Dniproenergo.

KIEV, Nov. 22 - Ukraine raised electricity exports by 2.1% or 170.1 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) January-October 2013 year-over-year, to 8.248 billion kWh, the Energy and Coal Industry Ministry reported.


EU offered no compensation for Russian trade losses, says DPM

KIEV, Nov. 22 – Ukraine has not received any signal from the European Union on ways to compensate for the losses that the country is sustaining due to reduced trade with CIS countries, in particular, with Russia, Deputy Prime Minister Yuriy Boyko said.
