Ferrexpo plc invests UAH 1.3-bln in Poltava mining in Jan-March, up 73.6% on year

KYIV, July 25 – British-based Ferrexpo plc in January-March 2019 invested UAH 1.3 billion (over $47.5 million) in the development of Poltava, Yeristovo and Belanovo mining and processing plants (GOK) it controls, which is 73.6% more than the investments for the same period in 2018 in the hryvnia (over UAH 748.9 million) and 71% in U.S. dollars (over $27.8 million).


Naftogaz says no reasons to postpone Ukraine-Russia-EU meeting on gas supplies

KYIV, July 24 – There are no reasons to postpone the trilateral Ukraine-Russia-EU meeting to discuss gas transit after 2019 after the completion of elections to the Parliament, but technical consultations should be held before it, Yuriy Vitrenko, the executive director of Naftogaz Ukrainy, has said.

KYIV, July 25 – The Bioenergy Association of Ukraine (BAU), together with the associations uniting the leading producers of electricity from renewable energy sources, have addressed President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky regarding the situation with the payment for purchased electricity from alternative sources at a feed-in tariff.


Council tells NBU to update study on validity of target inflation rate

KYIV, July 25 – The Council of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU), following a meeting on July 23, recommended that the central bank's board update the study on the validity of the target inflation rate, chairman of the council Bohdan Danylyshyn has said.


Ukraine boosts fruits, berries exports 59% on yr to $100-mln in H1

KYIV, July 24 - Ukraine in the first half of 2018 exported fruit and berries worth $100 million, which is 59% more than in the same period of 2017.

According to the Ukrsadprom association, the main products in the structure of exports remain walnuts worth $64 million, frozen berries for $23 million, apples and pears for $8 million.


Ukraine may create DARPA-like defense research agency by fall

KYIV, July 23 - An analogue of the U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) could be created on the basis of the state-run State Finance Institution for Innovations (SFII), adding the proposal could be submitted to the government for approval by autumn, Chairman of Ukroboronprom's supervisory board Mykhailo Zgurorsky said.
