EBRD expresses concern over seizure of 2,400 freight train wagons

KIEV. March 24 – The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development has expressed concern about the fact that former owners of Interleaseinvest that earlier had a fleet of 2,400 freight wagons, which the bank later took away under the collateral agreement in court, are fighting for control over the company and the fleet.


NCCR and mobile operators agree on 1,800 MHz frequency refarming

Technova contracts for 225,000 tons of South African anthracite coal

KIEV, March 24 – TechNova LLC, managing Darnytsia, Chernihiv, Cherkasy and Sumy combined heat and power plants (CHPPs) have contracted the delivery of 225,000 tons of anthracite from South Africa at the price of $96.60 per ton (taking into account delivery and reloading).


Kiev talking to European company about gas transport system management

EBRD allocates €65 million to Ukrainian national transmission network

KIEV, March 24 – The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development is allocating EUR 65 million to the Ukrainian national transmission network operator, Ukrenergo, to enhance its power supply reliability in Kiev.


Naftogaz Ukrayiny calling tender to choose top Ukrnafta management

KIEV, March 25 – Naftogaz Ukrayiny is to call an open tender to hire top Ukrnafta managers, Naftogaz Executive Director Andriy Pasishnyk said.

"After the signing of law No. 2273 (endorsing the reduction of the quorum for holding shareholders' meetings from 60% to 50% plus one share), we'll call an open tender to hire Ukrnafta's top management and the selection process will take place in the presence of journalists and lawmakers," he wrote on Facebook on Tuesday evening.

Ukraine's new leaders say they'll raise gas prices 50% in May

KIEV, March 26 - Ukraine's new leaders, in a step the ousted government had balked at, said on Wednesday it would raise the price of gas for domestic consumers by more than 50% from May 1 and would raise prices further under a fixed timetable to 2018, Reuters reported.


NBU: Ukraine balance of payments surplus hit $1.3 billion in February

KIEV, March 25 – The surplus of Ukraine's balance of payments in February 2013 was estimated at $1.3 billion, while in February 2012 there was a deficit of $55 million, the National Bank of Ukraine said.


Hydrocarbon deposits discovered near Ukraine Antarctic station

KIEV, March 25 – Ukrainian scientists have discovered a new hydrocarbon province close to Ukraine's Academician Vernadsky station in the west of Antarctica, according to a statement posted on the government's Web site with reference to the State Agency for Science, Innovation and Information Technology.
