Ukraine to seek compromise with IMF on financing, NBU reports

KIEV, July 23 - Ukraine is ready to find a compromise for financing from the International Monetary Fund, the National Bank of Ukraine said on its web site.

"The compulsory request (letter of intention) has been sent by the Ukrainian government and the NBU, addressed to the IMF's directorship.


Haase Energietechnik to design Dniprodzerzhynsk solid-waste project

Economy ministry to participate in refrigerator/freezer import probe

KIEV, July 26 – The interagency commission for international trade has instructed the Economy Ministry, jointly with other Ukrainian executive bodies, to hold talks with the competent bodies of exporting countries under an investigation into imports of refrigerators and freezers to Ukraine irrespective of their country of origin, which was started in May.

KIEV, July 24 – The National Bank of Ukraine reported that Ukraine's consolidated balance of payments deficit from January through June came to $7.288 billion, 11.1% up from January to May.

KIEV, July 25 – The National Bank of Ukraine has allowed the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development to sell foreign currency on the Ukrainian interbank forex market through Ukrainian banks and raise loans in the hryvnia for further lending in the Ukrainian national currency to residents.

KIEV, July 26 – Donetsk City council on Wednesday approved the decision of a tender commission that declared Kiev-based AeroSvit-Ukrainian Airlines the winner of a tender to select an investor to develop Donetsk-based Donbasaero municipal company, AeroSvit told Interfax-Ukraine.


Mobile communications in Ukraine reaches 69% real saturation

KIEV, July 26 – The nominal saturation of mobile communications in Ukraine by the end of 2007 will be 120% or 56 million sold SIM cards, and real saturation will reach 69% or 32 million subscribers, Russia's Euroset said in a preliminary study of the cell communications markets issued on Wednesday.


Ukrainian steel maker to set up EUR300m mill in northeast Hungary

BUDAPEST, July 26 - Ukrainian steel producer Vorskla Steel has made a final decision on setting up a EUR300 million steel mill in northeastern Hungary, near the Ukrainian border, the daily Vilaggazdasag reported Thursday based on information from trade development agency ITD Hungary.
