NBU will continue dialog with Visa and Mastercard, says official

KIEV, Sept. 24 – The National Bank of Ukraine will continue its dialog with the Visa and MasterCard international payment systems on the prospects for the Ukrainian national payment card transactions routing and clearing system, said Natalia Siniavska, the director of IT and payment systems at the NBU.


Naftogaz and OstChem buy $7.9 billion of Russian natgas through July

KIEV, Sept. 25 - Naftogaz Ukrayiny and OstChem Holding Ltd (Cyprus) imported 18.738 billion cubic meters of Russia natural gas worth $7.934 billion in January-July 2012, the State Statistics Service said.


State Railway Administration submits UAH8.7 billion capital budget

KIEV, Sept. 26 – The State Railway Administration (Ukrzaliznytsia) has submitted a draft plan for capital investment in 2013 to the Cabinet of Ministers in which the administration proposes to spend UAH 8.66 billion from the national and local budgets to buy rolling stock for passenger transportation.


Ski complex operator to raise $100 million to build airport runway

IVANO-FRANKIVSK, Sept. 26 – Scorzonera company (Polianytsia of Yaremche town council), which owns the Bukovel ski complex, plans to raise $100 million to build a runway at the Ivano-Frankivsk airport, the property of which the company has taken under concession.


Vehicle recycling tax deal to be discussed at CIS summit in Yalta

KIEV, Sept. 26 - A draft agreement to settle problems in trade relations between Ukraine and Russia that arose after the latter introduced a vehicle recycling tax might be discussed at the summit of CIS leaders that will be held in Yalta on September 28, Russian Deputy Economic Development Minister Andrei Klepach said in a video conference call between Moscow and Kiev.


Government decides on sites for three coal-to gas conversion plants

KIEV, Sept. 26 - Ukraine has decided on sites for building three coal-to-gas conversion plants and their construction is expected to begin early next year, Energy and Coal Industry Minister Yuriy Boyko said Wednesday.


Ukraine, Russia, Australia lead rise in world wheat production

LONDON, Sept. 26 – The International Grains Council (IGC) has reported in its September report that following upward revisions for Russia, Ukraine and Australia, world wheat production in 2011/12 is forecast 2 million tons higher than last month, at a near record 679 million, which is 28 million higher than last year production (651 million).


Current round of EU free-trade talks expected to conclude next month

BRUSSELS, Sept. 26 – The 18th round of talks on the creation of a free trade area between Ukraine and the EU, which began in Brussels on September 19, will last until mid-October, said Valeriy Piatnytsky, the head of the Ukrainian delegation.


Ukraine to sign free-trade deal with CIS next month, says 1st DPM

NERC approves feed-in tariffs for Crimean solar power projects

KIEV, Sept. 23 – The National Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has approved feed-in tariffs for solar power to be generated by Crimean Solar 1 Ltd. and Crimean Solar 2 Ltd. (both in Crimea's Simferopol district).
