Russian gas transit via Ukraine must comply with European rules: ministry

KYIV, Jan 25 - A possible new contract for the transit of Russian natural gas to the European Union should be based on European rules, which will protect Ukraine’s interests and prevent Russia from resorting to non-market and non-competitive methods, and should comply with the rulings of the Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce (SCC), the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said.


Ukrnafta increases oil output by 5% on year to 1.44-mln mt n 2018

KYIV, Jan 25 – Ukrnafta in 2018 increased extraction of oil and gas condensate by 5% or 0.069 million tons compared with 2017, to 1.448 million tons, the company's press service has reported.

Ukraine electricity exports reported down by 54.8% last year

Government extends emergency regime for electricity industry

KIEV, Jan. 26 - Ukraine's government has extended the current emergency regime in the country's electricity industry until the end of next month.

A government directive of January 14 published in the Uriadovy Kurier newspaper on January 24 gives the National Commission of Ukraine for Energy, Housing and Utilities Services Regulation extra powers in setting charges and boosts the authority of grid operator Ukrenergo in the transmission of electricity and the regulation of its consumption.


Wage arrears tripled last year, State Statistics Service reports

KIEV, Jan. 27 - The total sum of wage arrears in Ukraine rose 3% in December and more than tripled in 2014, the State Statistics Service reported.

According to the State Statistics Service, wage arrears on January 1, 2015 amounted to UAH 2.437 billion, or 7% of the monthly wage fund for December.


Ukrainian Security Service reports threats to blow up nuclear plants

KIEV, Jan. 27 - The Ukrainian Security Service has reported anonymous threats to blow up hydropower and nuclear power plants.
