Westinghouse needs two years to meet Energoatom’s nuclear fuel demand

KYIV, Jan 31 – U.S. Westinghouse will need about two years to be ready to meet the needs of National Nuclear Generating Company Energoatom for fuel for 13 existing VVER-1000 reactors, for this time there is enough fuel at nuclear power plants, Head of Energoatom Petro Kotin has said.


Poll shows 45% of Ukrainian businesses may operate even if Russia invades

KYIV, Jan 28 – Among 136 company executives surveyed by the European Business Association, some 45% are ready to continue operating even in the event of a Russian military invasion of Ukraine, another 17% of companies consider the relocation to the western regions, some 10% think of leaving the country in the worst-case scenario, while 7% fear that external aggression may lead to the closure of their business.

EBA warns tobacco bill may help increase illegal cigarette market in Ukraine

KYIV, Jan 29 – The adoption by Parliament of the of bill No. 4358 on the protection of the public health from harmful effects of tobacco will not allow harmonizing Ukrainian tobacco legislation with the European one, but will provoke the growth of the illegal market segment and increase the costs of legal business, the European Business Association (EBA) believes and proposes to revise it.


Naftogaz plans to use EBRD’s EUR 80.4-mln to buy natural gas in Europe

KYIV, Jan 29 – Naftogaz Ukrayiny plans to buy natural gas for supplies to Ukraine through an interconnector with the European Union for EUR 80.4 million, raised from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) as part of the eurobonds' placement in 2019.


Ukraine’s wage arrears increase 3.4% to UAH 3.13-bln by end-December

KYIV, Jan 29 – The total wage arrears in Ukraine in 2020 increased by 3.4%, and as of January 1, 2021 amounted to UAH 3.137 billion, while in December 2020 it decreased by 21.8%, the State Statistics Service said on Thursday.
