KIEV, Sept. 30 – The Constitutional Court, after seven days of deliberation, is expected to announce a ruling on Friday that may lead to dramatically increased powers for President Viktor Yanukovych.


Kiev tender to select firm to assess Borschahivsky chemical plant

KIEV, Sept. 28 – Kiev City Administration's main municipal property department has called a tender to select a firm to assess a 29.9488% stake in leading medicine producer CJSC Borschahivsky chemical and pharmaceutical plant, which will be put up for sale.


ArcelorMittal decries prosecutor attempt to invalidate SPF sale rules

KIEV, Sept. 29 - ArcelorMittal Kryviy Rih believes an attempt by the Prosecutor General's Office to invalidate changes made last year by the State Property Fund (SPF) to a 2005 agreement on the sale and purchase of a 93.02% stake in Kryvorizhstal with regard to the buyer's fulfillment of investment commitments represents disrespect by state authorities for their own decisions, according to the company.


Inseco farming holding to build EUR40 million biogas plant in Rivne

KIEV, Sept. 30 – The Inseco farming holding, with the assistance of the Ukrainian state agency for investment and innovation, plans to invest in the creation of a bio-gas plant worth EUR 40 million in Rivne region, which would be the largest bio-gas plant in Europe.

The agency reported that agreements on strategic partnership and cooperation were reached between the farming holding and the Rivne representative office of the southwest regional center for innovation development at a meeting held last week.


NCRC denies it plans to delay 3G communications license tenders

KIEV, Sept. 30 – The National Communications Regulatory Commission has said that it does not plan to delay the holding of the next tenders on the issue of 3G licenses on the use of radio frequency spectrum to provide 3G mobile communications services after the issue of the first license.


National Bank official calls for ‘smooth landing’ devaluation option

KIEV, Sept. 30 – The National Bank of Ukraine should retain its tactics for exchange rate formation in a slow devaluation regime, as this could provide for a "smooth landing" of the exchange rate and prevent destructive surges hitting financial stability, according to Valeriy Lytvytsky, the head of the group of advisors to the NBU governor.


World Bank survey shows 31 undercapitalized banks in Ukraine

KIEV, Sept. 29 – The diagnostic phase for 144 medium- and small-sized Ukrainian banks in groups three and four has shown that there are 31 undercapitalized banks, and of these, the shareholders of 26 banks have committed to increasing their capital to the required level by the end of December 2009, reads a survey of the World Bank.


Interpipe investor sees recovery ahead for global pipe market

KIEV, Sept. 30 – The global pipe market has stopped declining and has started recovering, according to Hennadiy Hazin, the director general and president of the EastOne international investment and consulting group, the investment portfolio of which includes Interpipe Pipe and Wheel Company.


Kernel Group to build new sunflower oil facility in Mykolaiv region

KIEV, Sept. 29 - Kernel Group, one of Ukraine's largest sunflower oil producers, has confirmed its plans to build a new oil refinery in Mykolaiv region with a processing capacity of 510,000 tons of seeds per year, which would allow the group to almost double its processing capacity.


Rosatom chief meets with Ukrainians in Vienna to discuss cooperation

VIENNA, Sept. 29 - Sergei Kiriyenko, chief of Russia's state Rosatom corporation has met with the Ukrainian delegation at a session of the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna to discuss the prospects for nuclear cooperation between the two countries.
