UIA and Ukrposhta sign mail and parcel transit cooperation memorandum

KIEV, Feb. 1 – Ukrainian International Airlines (UIA, Kiev) and state-run postal enterprise Ukrposhta have signed a memorandum of cooperation envisaging the development of international mail and parcels transit.


ZTR to supply reserve transformers to Saudi Electricity Company

KIEV, Jan. 29 – Zaporizhtransformator (ZTR), a large global manufacturer of transformer equipment, has signed a first contract on supply of equipment to Saudi Arabia – with National Grid S.A. (the division of Saudi Electricity Company), which ordered the supply of reserve transformers.


Japan's Yazaki to invest €1.1 million in Uzhgorod auto wire producer

KIEV, Jan. 29 – Japan's Yazaki plans to invest another EUR 1.1 million in development of production facilities of Yazaki Ukraine LLC (Uzhgorod, Zakarpattia region), which makes wires for automobiles, in July 2015-June 2016, Yazaki Ukraine CEO Milos Bosak said.


SPF to sell state Centrenego and Donbasenergo stakes in first half

KIEV, Jan. 31 – Ukraine's State Property Fund is to put state stakes in power generation companies PJSC Centrenergo and PJSC Donbasenergo up for sale in the first half of 2012, SPF head Oleksandr Riabchenko said at a press conference in Kiev on Tuesday.


2012 corn harvest could beat 2011’s by 11%, says Agribusiness Club

KIEV, Jan. 31 – The gross corn harvest in 2012 could reach 25 million tons, which would be 11% up on 2011, according to the Ukrainian Agribusiness Club.

The UCAB said that the crop area for corn of the 2012 harvest could be expanded by 25%, to 4.5 million hectares.

State-run company to build Kiev region biofuel heat and power plant

KIEV, Feb. 1 – The state-run company Green Energo, which is operating as part of the Energy of Nature national project, is planning to build a combined heat and power plant in Kiev region that will consume biofuel, the head of the bio-energy direction of the project, Rostyslav Maraikin, told the press in Kiev on Tuesday.

KIEV, Feb. 1 – The World Bank has announced the appointment of Qimiao Fan as director for Ukraine, Belarus and Moldova.

The bank said that his most recent assignment was country manager for Cambodia.


Activ Solar to start operating cells in Crimean power plant

KIEV, Jan. 31 - Activ Solar (Kiev) is intending to start operating solar cells with a total capacity of 7.5 MW at solar power plants located in the village of Rodnykove (Crimea), a source in the company has told Interfax-Ukraine.


TNK-BP says it would avoid Linik shutdown if Ukraine helps industry

KIEV, Jan. 31 - The board of directors of TNK-BP has approved the shutdown in January-March 2011 of the Lysychansk Oil Refinery (Linik) in Ukraine's Luhansk region, but says it will refrain from doing so if Ukraine tackles the problems afflicting the industry, a source in the presidential administration told Interfax.
