Google doubles funding for Ukrainian IT companies to $10-mln in 2022

WARSAW, March 31 – Google Corporation, as part of the Startup Support Fund in Ukraine, doubled funding for Ukrainian companies in 2022 by providing $10 million, Head of Google for Startups, CEE Michal Kramarz said at the Tech Emerging Europe Advocates – Meeting 2023 in Warsaw.

KYIV, April 1 – The Business Expectations Index, calculated by the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU), fell by 5.4 points in March, to 45.8 points, which is below the neutral value of 50 points and indicates the prevalence of pessimistic business expectations.


Czech energy group wins right to explore oil and gas fields in Ukraine

KYIV, April 2 – Czech energy holding Energeticky a prumyslovy holding, a.s. (EPH Group) has won two competitions to explore Hrunivske and Okhtyrske oil and gas fields under production sharing agreements (PSA), Head of the State Service of Geology and Subsoil of Ukraine Roman Opimakh reported on Thursday.


Ukraine’s grain exports up 22.3% on year to 46-mln mt in July-March 2019/20

KYIV, April 2 - Ukraine’s grain exports reached a record 46 million metric tons in the first nine months of the 2019/20 season versus 37.6 million mt mshipped in the same period a season earlier, Reuters reported Thursday citing the Ministry for Development of Economy, Trade and Agriculture.


Ukraine’s rolled steel output increases 1.3% on year in Jan-March

KYIV, April 2 – Ukrainian metal and mining enterprises in January-March 2019 tentatively increased rolled steel output by 1.3% year-over-year, to 4.727 million tons.

According to the Ukrmetallurgprom association, steel smelting grew by 4.5%, to 5.498 million tons, while cast iron output decreased by 2.1%, to 5.178 million tons.


Naftogaz seeks $1-bln in loans from China after securing insurance deal

KYIV, April 2 – Naftogaz Ukrayiny and China Export and Credit Insurance Corporation (Sinosure) have concluded a memorandum of understanding regarding a $1 billion insurance quota for Naftogaz group. This will enable loans and foreign direct investments from China within the said amount.


Ukrzaliznytsia increases tariffs for cargo transport by 14.2%

KYIV, April 1 – Ukrzaliznytsia from March 30 indexed the tariffs for freight transportation by rail y 14.2%. The information was published in the Uriadovy Kurier government's newspaper on Saturday.

Earlier it was planned that the tariffs would be indexed on April 1, 2019.


EBA calls on regulators to abolish rules of trade in alcoholic drinks

KYIV, April 1 – The European Business Association (EBA) has called on the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, the Ministry of Finance and the State Fiscal Service to abolish the rules of trade in alcoholic drinks as they are outdated, contain unrealistic or already canceled standards, according to a press release of the association.
