DTEK boosts coal output 6.6% on year to 14.8-mil mt in Jan-June
KYIV, Aug 2 – Ukraine’s largest coal producer DTEK boosted 6.6% output of run-of-mine (ROM) coal in January-June 2017, to 14.807 million tons, including 13.447 million tons made by Ukrainian assets of the group, the company reported. The figures also include DTEK’s Obukhovskaya coal mine in Russia. |
Sea Port Authority chairman subject of SBU embezzlement probe
KIEV, Aug 1 – Andriy Amelin, chairman of state-run enterprise Sea Port Authority of Ukraine, has been informed that he is suspected of embezzling funds via setting too high a cost for lubricants and fuel, Deputy Infrastructure Minister Yuriy Lavreniuk said. |
Antonov to appeal An-124 action of Russian aviation authorities
KIEV, Aug. 1 - State Enterprise Antonov will appeal to international aviation organizations with the request to lift responsibility for the safety of flights of Russian transport An-124-100 Ruslan aircraft, if Russian aviation authorities illegally, in violation of the rules, decide on the withdrawal of them from under the supervision of the developer and transfer its functions to a Russian company. |
Ukraine to buy nuclear fuel from OAO TVEL, Westinghouse in 2016
KIEV, Aug. 2 - Ukraine plans in 2016 to supply 17 batches of fresh nuclear fuel, of which 12 will be fuel from OAO TVEL (the Russian Federation), and five from Westinghouse, Deputy Prime Minister Volodymyr Kistion said in an interview with the Holos Ukrainy newspaper. |
Metinvest B.V. acquires 50% of Zaporizhstal in $416 million deal
KIEV, July 31 - Netherlands-based Metinvest B.V., the parent company of the international vertically integrated mining and metals group Metinvest, has announced it has exercised an option to buy 50% of the mining and metallurgical business of the Industrial Group, resulting in Metinvest and a group of investors consolidating more than 50% of Ukrainian steelmaker OJSC Zaporizhstal. |
