NBU: Swift end of war to have positive impact on economy
KYIV, Feb 3 – The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) has included the factor of a swift end to active hostilities in its updated Inflation Report as a potential positive influence on its macroeconomic forecast. However, the bank assessed its likelihood as below 15%.

Ukraine’s special forces strike Russian Lukoil oil refinery in Volgograd
KYIV, Feb 3 – Units of the Special Operations Forces (SOF), the Armed Forces (AFU), and the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), in cooperation with other components of the Defense Forces, struck the Volgograd oil refinery (Lukoil-Volgograd Refinery) and the Astrakhan gas processing plant on the night of February 3, 2025.

Velta in talks with U.S. entities on boosting titanium mining, exports
KYIV, Feb 1 - Velta US Inc (the United States), the parent company of Production and Commercial Company Velta LLC with assets for the extraction of titanium containing ores in Novomyrhorod, Kirovohrad region, from January 31 this year began a series of multi-round negotiations with American partners to develop a roadmap for interaction between the Ukrainian supplier of titanium raw materials and U.S. companies and institutions that are consumers of titanium.

Metinvest’s steel production up 15% on year in 2021 as demand rises
KYIV, Feb 2 - Metinvest, the largest Ukrainian mining and metallurgical holding, in 2021 increased steel production by 15% compared to 2020 - up to 9.533 million tons, pig iron - also by 15%, up to 9.709 million tons, but reduced total coke production by 5% - to 4.551 million tons.

Ukraine’s government approves draft free trade agreement with Turkey
KYIV, Feb 2 – The Cabinet of Ministers approved the draft Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with Turkey at a government meeting on Wednesday.
According to First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economy Yulia Svyrydenko, the agreement will bring an additional 2% of GDP annually.

Kyiv real estate prices denominated in hryvnias rise amid inflation fears
KYIV, Feb 3 – The average price per square meter of new housing as of February 1, 2022 in Kyiv increased to UAH 35,400 (up by UAH 400 over the previous month), in Lviv – to UAH 22,200 (by UAH 500), in Odesa – to UAH 23,900 (by UAH 900), according to the data of the LUN Misto urban research project.
