Trade between Ukraine and Russia slowing to a trickle so far this year

KIEV, March 3 – Exports of goods from Ukraine to Russia fell by 48% year-over-year in January, following restriction of trade between the two countries, to $121 million, while imports from Russia plunged by 60.6%, to $246 million, according to preliminary data presented by the National Bank of Ukraine.


Kharkiv turbine producer wins contract to equip Yuzhnoukrainsk plant

KIEV, March 3 – OJSC Turboatom (Kharkiv), Ukraine's largest producer of turbine equipment, in late February signed an agreement with the Atomkomplekt division of National Nuclear Generating Company EnergoAtom, to supply a condenser for reactor two of Yuzhnoukrainsk nuclear power plant.


Trilateral gas meeting set for this month, says Russian official

MOSCOW, March 3 – A new trilateral meeting on gas will be held at the end of March, Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak told reporters in Brussels.

The meeting will discuss issues concerning gas supplies to Ukraine in the summer.


Russians trying to take over ChornomorNaftoGaz, energy minister says

KIEV, March 3 - Russian interests have been trying to take over the regional energy company ChornomorNaftoGaz, Ukrainian Energy and Coal Industry Minister Yuriy Prodan said Monday.

“Attempts are being made to forcibly take over the company,” Prodan said. “Actions like that, such as meddling with the energy, power and gas transportation systems, can have severe consequences.”


State Food and Grain Corp. to deliver China 4 million tons of grain

Shell interested in Yuzovska gas field tender participation

KIEV, March 1 – Shell in Ukraine has expressed hope that the Yuzovska gas field in Donetsk and Kharkiv regions will be put up for a tender to select an investor for the development of the field under a product sharing agreement (PSA) agreement by June 2011, the head of Shell's representation in Ukraine, Patrick van Daele, said in Kiev on Tuesday.
