WSJ: Foreign investors buying Ukraine bonds despite difficult talks

MOSCOW, July 31 - Some foreign investors have recently loaded up on Ukrainian government bonds despite difficult negotiations between Kiev and its creditors, according to the Wall Street Journal.

KIEV, July 31 – PrivatBank (Dnipropetrovsk) has asked its investors to approve the postponement of payment of eurobonds worth $200 million from September 23 to December 1.


Ukraine's treasury assets reported up fivefold year-over-year

KIEV, Aug. 3 – The balance of assets in Ukraine's treasury account as of August 3 was estimated at UAH 33.27 billion, a fivefold year-over-year increase, the State Treasury Service reported on Monday.

Metinvest Group steel works slow down due to raw material problems

KIEV, July 29 – Mariupol Illich Steel Works and Azovstal Steel Works, both part of Metinvest Group, have had to switch to a reduced regime of operation at some divisions due to problems with supplies of raw materials, Metinvest reported in the corporate newspaper Illichivets.


Chernobyl nuclear storage facility project plagued with delays

KIEV, Aug. 1 – Holtec International (the United States) will finish construction of a waste nuclear fuel storage facility 2 at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant no earlier than November 2016, said Serhiy Bozhko, head of the State Nuclear Regulation Inspectorate.


Rada votes to compensate farmers, energy cos for high interest rates

Parliament approves temporary 1.5% war tax on Ukrainian wages

KIEV, Aug. 1 - The Ukrainian parliament has supported a Cabinet of Ministers proposal to introduce a temporary war tax of 1.5% on the wage fund through January 1, 2015, Batkivschyna parliamentary faction leader Serhiy Sobolev said at a briefing.
