Naftogaz and Gaz Ukrayiny sign debt repayment deal with Ostchem

KIEV, Sept. 25 – Naftogaz Ukrayiny and Gaz Ukrayiny last week signed amicable agreements with Ostchem Group on the debt payment schedule and conditions to resume gas supplies to chemical enterprises of the group approved in court rulings.


Ukrinbank selling stake to get $50 million OPIC cash injection

KIEV, Sept. 25 – Ukrinbank is holding talks on selling 25% of the bank's shares to a foreign investor, which is one of the conditions for raising funds from the Overseas Private Investment Corporation, the bank reported on its website.


NBU forecasts economic turnaround for Ukraine starting in Q4

KIEV, Sept. 24 – The National Bank of Ukraine has forecast that economic activity in the country will gradually be restored as the indicators in the third quarter are positive and are expected to continue in the fourth quarter, which is corroborated by the NBU's liberalized monetary policy.


NBU governor denies rumors of bank Finance and Credit pilfering

KIEV, Sept. 24 – The National Bank of Ukraine has monitored the operation of bank Finance and Credit every day after its status as a troubled bank was lifted on August 27 until the bank was declared insolvent on September 17, and the rumors on alleged splitting transactions or other transactions on the removal of funds from the bank are untrue, NBU Governor Valeriya Gontareva said.


Ukroboronprom chief calls raising private capital defense reform key

Austria’s Prinzhorn Holding resumes construction of corrugated plant

KIEV, Sept. 26 - The Dunapack-Tavria corrugated cardboard packaging plant in Tsiuriupinsk (Kherson region), the building of which was resumed this year by Austrian investor Prinzhorn Holding, is being created to mainly satisfy the demand of global companies like Heinz and Coca-Cola for high-quality packaging, reads a report published in Austria's Wirtschafts Blatt newspaper.


NBU reports adding 220,000 ounces to gold reserves through Aug. 31

KIEV, Sept. 27 – The National Bank of Ukraine said it increased its gold reserves by 220,000 ounces, to 1.12 million ounces, in January-August.

In August, the NBU bought 60,000 ounces, in July – 10,000 ounces, in May – 70,000 ounces, and 40,000 ounces in each of March and April.


Ukraine to introduce duties on gasoline and diesel fuel imports

KIEV, Sept. 27 - Ukraine plans to introduce duties on imports of gasoline and diesel fuel starting December 1 in a bid to restart domestic oil refineries, Energy and Fuel Minister Yuriy Boyko said in a report.


Belarus imports of Ukraine electricity down 32%, government reports

MINSK, Sept. 26 – Belarus imported 1.333 billion kW hours of electric power from Ukraine in January-August, which was 32.6% less year-on-year, according to a monthly Fuel and Energy Ministry monitoring report.


UAH8.9 billion needed to build new Kiev subway line, say officials

KIEV, Sept. 26 – A total of UAH 8.9 billion will be needed to build a subway line to Troyeschyna residential area in Kiev and it will take over five years to realize the project, Kiev Metropoliten told Interfax-Ukraine.
