Ministry decides not to finance incineration plant project with CERs
KIEV, Feb. 4 – The Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry has decided not to reconstruct the Energiya incineration plant (Kiev, owned by Kyivenergo) using funds received from the sale of Certified Emission Reductions (CERs), Minister Oleh Proskuriakov said at a press conference in Kiev on Tuesday. |
City of Kiev may place $700 million of eurobonds to pay off debt

Hydroenergo reported in talks with EBRD on hydropower financing
KIEV, Feb. 3 – Ukrhydroenergo, the operator of all large hydroelectric power plants on the Ukrainian sections of the Dnipro and Dniester rivers, is currently in talks with the World Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development on the possibility of attracting loans for the construction of Kakhovska hydroelectric power plant No. 2, Ukrhydroenergo Chairman Semen Potashnyk told journalists on Wednesday. |
Most of Ukraine’s mines reduce iron ore production in January
KIEV, Feb. 3 – Amid slackening demand, most Ukrainian mines reduced iron ore production in January.
Poltava Mining, the core asset of Ferrexpo plc, said it cut commercial pellet production tentatively 31.9% year-on-year to 514,000 tons. Iron ore concentrate production fell 30.5% to 613,000 tons. PGOK exports most of its pellets.
