Analytical group lowers forecast for Ukraine GDP growth this year

KIEV, Nov. 27 - The International Center of Policy Studies (ICPS) has lowered its forecast for 2008 GDP growth in Ukraine to 2.6%.

According to ICPS, GDP will fall in 2009 by 5.2% with a further resumption of growth by 1% in 2010 and by 3.5% and 2011.


New Gazprom natural gas price formula may end need for annual talks

KIEV, Nov. 27 - Russian natural gas giant Gazprom has suggested a formula for calculating future gas prices for Ukraine, a move that may finally end the political component in price talks, a senior official said Wednesday.

For the past five years Ukraine has been pressing to switch to formula-based gas prices as opposed to holding annual negotiations with Russia over prices that had often led to sharp disputes.


Cost of completing Khmelnitsky reactors pegged at UAH15 billion

KIEV, Nov. 26 – The cost of completing the construction of reactors three and four at Khmelnitsky Nuclear Power Plant is estimated at UAH15 billion, Fuel and Energy Minister Yuriy Prodan said during a meeting in Kiev on Tuesday.


EnergoAtom to allocate UAH170 million for nuke waste storage

KIEV, Nov. 26 – The National Nuclear Generating Company EnergoAtom plans in 2009 to allocate UAH170 million to build a central nuclear waste storage facility for three out of four of Ukraine's nuclear plants, Fuel and Energy Minister Yuriy Prodan said during a meeting in Kiev on Tuesday.


Sumy Frunze supplies Gazprom with $8 million of equipment for Yamburg

Gazprom okays 30% Turkmen gas price hike

MOSCOW, Nov. 27 – Russian gas giant Gazprom on Tuesday accepted a 30% hike in the price it will pay Turkmenistan for natural gas next year, a move that will probably trigger a major gas price increase for Ukraine.
