Kernel to boost sunflower seed processing to 6-mln mt annually by 2026
KYIV, Oct 4 – Kernel, one of the largest Ukrainian agricultural groups, intends to increase the volume of sunflower seeds processing to 6 million tons per year by 2026, while in 2021 fiscal year (FY, July 2020 - June 2021) their processing at facilities of the agricultural holding amounted to 3.2 million tons, the oil producer also plans to increase grain exports to 15 million tons (in FY2021 – 8 million tons).

Ukraine’s sugar industry to incur losses after gas price doubles in October
KYIV, Oct 4 – The Ukrainian sugar industry, which is on the verge of unprofitability, will incur additional losses due to the rise in prices for natural gas from UAH 11,000 per 1,000 cubic meters in July up to UAH 28,000 per 1,000 cubic meters in October, the business community asks the Prime Minister to provide subsidies for sugar producers in the 2022 state budget in the amount of UAH 150 per ton of raw materials sold.

Naftogaz replaces key local gas distributor amid dispute over prices
KYIV, Oct 4 - Naftogaz Ukrayiny from October 1 began to supply gas to companies for its subsequent sale to households on a new contractual basis - the Balancing Group, having refused, in particular, from the contract with JE Energy of Dmytro Firtash, chairman of the board Yuriy Vitrenko said.

Ukroboronprom seeks to reorganize 60 defense firms into 7 branches
KYIV, Oct 5 – The team of the Ukroboronprom state concern has presented a comprehensive strategy for the transformation and development of the concern until 2030, which involves the reorganization of 60 enterprises of the concern into seven branch holdings: aircraft repair, armored vehicles, precision weapons, ammunition and special chemistry, radar systems, marine systems and special export, to the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for Strategic Industries Oleh Urusky.

EBA warns new bill puts fiscal pressure on businesses in Ukraine
KYIV, Oct 5 – An increased fiscal burden on businesses as it is foreseen in bill No. 4101 from the budget package could force some companies to shut down, which would result in the artificial deepening of the crisis, the European Business Association (EBA) said in a statement.

Ukraine’s business activity outlook improves 1.5 points in September
KYIV, Oct 2 - The Business Activity Outlook Index (BAOI), calculated by the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU), in September increased by 1.5 points (p.), to 49.4 after growth in August (by 1 p.) and July (by 1.5 p.), but remains below the neutral value of 50 points and signals the prevalence of pessimistic business expectations.

Ukrainian hotels need two years to overcome COVID-19 losses
KYIV, Oct 5 – Ukrainian hotel operators will need at least two years to restore pre-crisis indicators, while a number of facilities are likely to be closed, Director of the appraisal and consulting department at Colliers International (Ukraine) Natalia Chystiakova has said.
