Dmytro Firtash organization disputes Wikileaks corruption report

KIEV, Dec. 2 – Ukrainian businessman Dmytro Firtash has never been in a business or commercial partnership with alleged Russia-based crime boss Semion Mogilevich, and Mogilevich has never been a shareholder of or had anything to do with Eural Trans Gas and RosUkrEnergo, or any other companies that are linked to Firtash's business interests, the press service of the Ukrainian businessman has claimed.


Short-term temperature drops likely to reoccur, says forecaster

KIEV, Dec. 3 – The sharp temperature drops of recent days are likely to reoccur in December-February 2010-2011, although on the whole a rather warm winter is expected, head of the department for the long-term forecasting at the Ukrainian Scientific and Research Hydrometeorological Institute Vizara Martazinova has said.


New Energy of Ukraine Alliance to build 250 MW wind plant in Crimea

KIEV, Dec. 3 – Kiev-based New Energy of Ukraine Alliance plans to build a 250 MW wind power plant in the Sovetsky district of Crimea, the alliance board chairman, Valeriy Borovik, told Interfax-Ukraine.

He said that Chernihiv-based New Energy Technologies, which is part of the alliance, is managing the project.


Existing tax system to be extended until amendments are made

KIEV, Dec. 3 – The existing single tax system will be prolonged until amendments are made to Section 14 of the Tax Code, with these amendments having to be submitted to the Ukrainian parliament within two months of the Tax Code taking effect (January 1, 2010).


Gazprom issues $1.5b loan to Ukraine aimed at keeping natgas flowing

KIEV, Dec. 3 – Gazprom issued a $1.5 billion loan to Ukraine as a guarantee it will keep moving massive amount of natural gas to Europe via Ukrainian pipelines through 2015, Energy and Fuel Minister Yuriy Boyko said Friday.


Iron ore producers report increased pellet production thru Nov. 30

KIEV, Dec. 5 - Ukrainian iron ore producers boosted pellet production in the first 11 months of 2007.

Poltava GOK (PGOK), Ukraine's biggest iron ore pellet producer, raised commercial pellet production tentatively 7.1% year-on-year to 8.319 million tons, the company told Interfax. Iron ore concentrate production grew 11.3% to 9.756 million tons.


Steel industry sees 5% finished roll output through November

KIEV, Dec. 3 - Ukraine's steel industry increased finished roll output 5% year-on-year in January-November to 32.956 million tons, the Industrial Policy Ministry told Interfax.

KIEV, Dec. 4 - Production of 6%-moisture metallurgical coke in Ukraine increased by 5.9% year-on-year to 18.327 million tons in the first eleven months of 2007, including 1.69 million tons in October, according to preliminary figures.

KIEV, Dec. 5 ??“ National telephone operator Ukrtelecom plans by the end of 2005 to start exploiting about 22 new communication facilities, including about 2,000 kilometers of fiber-optic connection links.
