Metallurgprom calls on government to go easy on rail rate hikes

KIEV, Jan. 27 – The Metallurgprom association of metal companies (Dnipropetrovsk) has pointed out the difficult situation in the Ukrainian mining and metal industry, in particular with regards to metal companies, and has called on the Ukrainian government to take this into account when deciding if they will increase railway tariffs for freight transportation.


Ukraine to supply 5 new BTR-4 armored personnel carriers to Indonesia

KIEV, Jan. 27 – Ukraine will supply BTR-4 armored personnel carriers to Indonesia, state enterprise Ukrspecexport told Interfax-Ukraine.

Ukrspecexport said that its subsidiary Spectechnoexport won a tender of the Defense Ministry of Indonesia to supply a batch of five new Ukrainian BTR-4 APCs for the Indonesian Armed Forces.


Lukoil resumes making oil deliveries to Odessa Oil Refinery

MOSCOW, Jan. 28 - Lukoil has resumed delivering oil to Odessa Oil Refinery, which the company sold last summer, Lukoil President Vagit Alekperov said.

"These are small volumes. Two items were delivered. It was about 100,000 [tons]," Alekperov said.


Finance ministry proposes new customs currency declaration forms

KIEV, Jan. 28 – Individuals when crossing the border and moving bank metals, payment documents and securities, cash and circular cheques will have to fill in a new currency customs declaration form, according to a new cabinet resolution drawn up by the Finance Ministry.


Russia's Alfa Group buying Bank of Cyprus Ukrainian subsidiary

KIEV, Jan. 28 - Russia's Alfa Group is buying Bank of Cyprus (Ukraine), the subsidiary of the Bank of Cyprus in Ukraine.

"Negotiations on sale of the bank to Alfa Group are underway, but the agreement has not been signed," a Bank of Cyprus representative told Interfax.

S&P lowers ratings boom on city of Lviv following coupon default

KIEV, Jan. 28 - Standard & Poor's Ratings Services has lowered its long-term issuer credit and Ukraine national scale ratings on the Ukrainian city of Lviv to 'SD' (selective default) following the city's default on a coupon payment.


UkrNafta dividend to help pay January Russian natural gas tab

KIEV, Jan. 28 - Ukraine’s largest oil company, UkrNafta, said Thursday it will channel 800 million hryvnias, or $100 million, in dividends to Naftogaz Ukrayiny by February 5, the deadline by which Naftogaz must pay its monthly Russian natural gas bill.
