NBU committee members vote to keep rates unchanged thru end-2020
KYIV, Aug 4 – Half of members of the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) at a meeting held on July 22 offered to keep the key policy rate unchanged until the end of 2020 (at 6%), three MPC members advocated a cut in the key policy rate and two MPC members – a rise in the rate, the central bank said in a Monday report on its website.

Metinvest increases steel output 1% on year in January-June
KYIV, Aug 5 – Metinvest, the largest Ukrainian mining and metallurgical holding, in January-June this year increased steel production by 1% compared to the same period last year, to 3.963 million tons, pig iron – also by 1%, to 4.066 million tons, but reduced total coke production by 4%, to 2.373 million tons.

Buslavets calls for building ‘data centers’ near idle power plants
KYIV, Aug 5 – Acting Minister of Energy Olha Buslavets has discussed potential projects on the construction of data centers and a hydrogen plant in Ukraine with Andriy Zhovner, the CEO of H2 LLC, and Walter Komarek, the CEO of Yom Capital Ltd, operating in the field of alternative energy.

Beijing Skyrizon, DCH file joint bid to buy aircraft motor co. Motor Sich
KYIV, Aug 6 – Beijing Skyrizon and DCH Group of Ukrainian businessman Oleksandr Yaroslavsky and its affiliated companies jointly submitted a new application to the Antimonopoly Committee on August 4 to buy Motor Sich shares, Beijing Xinwei Technology Group Co., Ltd said in a statement on the Shanghai Stock Exchange on Thursday night.

U.S. accuses Kolomoisky of money laundering
WASHINGTON, Aug 6 - The U.S. Justice Department on Thursday accused wealthy Ukrainian businessman Ihor Kolomoisky of stealing billions of dollars from a bank he once owned, then using a vast array of companies to launder that money in the United States and all over the world, The Washington Post reported.
