Ukraine currency inflow hit $14 billion through Nov. 30, NBU reports

KIEV, Dec. 5 – The currency inflow to Ukraine from January to November 2011 came to some $14 billion, the National Bank of Ukraine announced.

"Since the start of the year, almost $14 billion has been sent to Ukraine. Even today, when the economic situation in the world is difficult, we have an inflow of currency," said NBU Governor Serhiy Arbuzov.


Electric consumption up 2.7% through Nov. 30, government reports

KIEV, Dec. 6 - Electricity consumption in Ukraine in January-November, taking into account losses from electricity transmission, grew by 2.7%, or by 4.516 billion kilowatt-hours year-on-year, to 169.939 billion kilowatt-hours, the Energy and Coal Industry Ministry reported.


DTEK to control 45% of Ukraine mines after latest acquisitions

Naftogaz subsidiary predicts savings from gas turbine replacements

KIEV, Dec. 3 – Ukrtransgaz, a subsidiary of Naftogaz Ukrayiny, expects to cut consumption of technological gas by 13.5% or by 500 million cubic meters in 2010 by replacing gas-powered turbines with electric gas pumps.


EVRA to construct 399 MW capacity wind power plants in Crimea

KIEV, Dec. 3 – EVRA Ltd. (Yevpatoria) is intending to construct two wind power plants with a total generating capacity of 399 MW in Crimea, company head Viacheslav Vdovin told Interfax-Ukraine.


Metinvest reports sharp output spike following Mariupol purchase

KIEV, Dec. 6 – Metinvest Mining and Metals Holding starting in November included Mariupol Illich Iron & Steel Works (Donetsk region), a 74.6455% stake in which was bought by Metinvest B.V., in its report, which resulted in a sharp increase in the metal production data of the group.


Electric generation reported down 8.3% at nuke plants through Nov. 30

KIEV, Dec. 3 - Electricity generation by EnergoAtom nuclear plants fell by a preliminary 8.3% or 6.859 billion kWh year-over-year in January-November, to 75.44 billion kWh, EnergoAtom announced.

In the 22 months, the electricity generation target was over-fulfilled by 1.3%.


Report: Ukrainian bank information transparency grew in 2009

KIEV, Dec. 4 – Information transparency at Ukrainian banks grew in 2009, despite there being a fall in incentives for transparency, according to a survey conducted by the Financial Initiatives Agency jointly with the corporate management rating service of Standard & Poor's with the support of Capital Markets Development USAID project.
