Growth of industrial prices slowed in May, government reports

KIEV, June 7 - Industrial prices in Ukraine in May 2012 were up 0.2% on April 2012, whereas their growth in April 2012 from March 2012 was 3.7%, that in March from February was 1.1%, and in February 2012 from January 2012 - 0.8%, according to the State Statistics Service.


Gazprom to advance Ukraine $2 billion to finance huge gas purchases

KIEV, July 7 – Russia’s gas giant Gazprom agreed on Thursday to pay $2 billion to Ukraine in advance to finance massive purchases of natural gas to secure stable transit of the energy resource to the European Union.

The money, which covers almost a year of Russian gas transit via the Ukrainian gas pipelines, will be spent to buy gas for storage to meet Europe’s gas demand during high demand season.


Ukraine to get enriched uranium from stake in Russia’s IUEC

MOSCOW, June 5 - Ukraine's share in OJSC International Uranium Enrichment Center (IUEC, Russia) will enable enrichment of enough uranium for 1 to 1.5 nuclear reactors annually, said Tetiana Amosova, the general director of the Ukrainian state concern Nuclear Fuel.

KIEV, June 7 - The growth of industrial producer prices slowed to 2.6% in May from 3.4% in April, the State Statistics Service said.

Since the beginning of the year, industrial prices have grown by 15%.


Inflation slowed to 0.8% in May, from 1.3% in April, govt reports

KIEV, June 7– Inflation in Ukraine slowed to 0.8% in May compared to 1.3% in April 2011 and 1.4% in March, the State Statistics Service reported.

According to the service, inflation has reached 5.5% since the beginning of this year.


No need to ban EU fruit and vegetable imports, says official

KIEV, June 7 – The official reason for the outbreak of intestinal infection caused by E. Coli has not yet been established, so Ukraine still sees no need to ban fruit and vegetable imports from the countries of the European Union, State Veterinary and Biosecurity Service Chairman Ivan Bisiuk said.
