National Bank of Ukraine confirms 2016 target inflation rate at 12%

KIEV, Sept. 6 – The National Bank of Ukraine says that the situation on Ukraine's forex market is under control and confirms target inflation in 2016 at 12%.


Ukraine forex reserves grew 0.1% last month, according to NBU

KIEV. Sept 6 – Ukraine's forex reserves grew by 0.1% or $21 million in August, to $14.103 billion, the National Bank of Ukraine reported.

The reserves grew by 12% in the past 12 months, and small growth was recorded in the past two months (0.7% in July).


Trade ministry and EU delegation start work on FORBIZ project

KIEV Sept. 7 – Ukraine's Economic Development and Trade Ministry and the EU delegation to Ukraine have started implementing the FORBIZ joint project aimed at supporting business.


Metinvest calls for resumption of VAT refunds for exported goods

KIEV, Sept. 4 – Metinvest, the largest Ukrainian mining and metal company has said that its enterprises are operating under Ukrainian law and its Khartsyzsk Pipe Plant and Yenakiyeve Steel Works (both based in Donetsk region) were re-registered in Ukrainian controlled Mariupol, and has expressed hope that VAT for exported goods will be refunded.


EU to provide €55 million to support small and medium enterprises

KIEV, Sept. 4 – The European Union would provide EUR 55 million of donor aid to support small and medium enterprises (SME).

The Economic Development and Trade Ministry of Ukraine said on its website that the agreement was signed by Economic Development and Trade Minister of Ukraine Aivaras Abromavicius and Director of IPA Strategy of Directorate General for Enlargement of the European Commission Gerhard Schumann-Hitzler.


UkrNatfa shareholder meeting cancelled amid squabbling over dividend

KIEV, Sept. 4 – A meeting of Ukrnafta shareholders scheduled for September 11, will not be held for organizational reasons.

According to a report of the board of the largest oil extracting company in the country, Naftogaz Ukrayiny convenes an extraordinary general meeting of shareholders in Ukrnafta for October 10, 2014.


Railways have sustained UAH950 million damages, Ukrzaliznytsia says

KIEV, Sept. 5 – Railway infrastructure in Ukraine has been damaged due to armed hostilities in the eastern part of the country and the loss amounts to some UAH 900 million, Ukrzaliznytsia reported.


Ukrainians and Saudis haggle over grain export contract details

KIEV, Sept. 5 – Saudi Arabia is interested in the large one-time purchase of Ukrainian grain, but Ukraine would like to sign a long-term contract on grain exports to this country, Prime Minister Mykola Azarov has said.


Ukrainian company to invest $2.2 billion in titanium-apatite plant

KIEV, Sept. 7 - Sirius, a private Ukrainian company, plans to invest $2.2 billion in a project to build a mining and metallurgical plant to develop the Kropyvenske titanium-apatite deposit in Zhytomyr region.

Zhytomyr region is like a "Ukrainian Ural," Serhiy Ryzhuk, the head of the regional administration, said at a press conference at Interfax-Ukraine on Tuesday.


Ministry forecasts 21.8% rise in exports, 20.3% spike in imports

KIEV, Sept. 7 – The Economy Ministry expects that in 2010 exports of good and services will grow by 21.8% and imports will rise by 20.3%, while the official government forecast for this year foresees a 15.1% and 14.4% rise in these indicators, respectively.
