Zelensky launches debut digital survey as part of digital transformation

KYIV, Feb 8 – President Volodymyr Zelensky has launched a debut digital survey as part of digital democracy.

"The state in a smartphone for everyone, the ability to influence the processes in the state for everyone, and not only through classical tools, but also using modern technologies, this is democracy in the widest possible form offline and online. Today we are taking the first step towards this," he said at the presentation of the Diia Summit new digital services in Kyiv on Tuesday.


Slovakia to explore possible increase of gas transit to Ukraine

KYIV, Feb 7 – Slovakia intends to study the possibility of increasing gas transit to Ukraine, Slovak Foreign Minister Ivan Korcok has said.

He said at a joint press conference of the ministers of foreign affairs of Ukraine, the Czech Republic and Austria in Kyiv that he is pleased to inform the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine that last week the operator of gas transit systems in Slovakia temporarily doubled gas transit to Ukraine. Slovakia is ready to analyze the possibility of commercial viability of this project in the future, he said.

Ukraine’s sugar exports to drop 51% on year in 2020/2021 season: ministry

KYIV, Feb 5 – Sugar exports in the 2020/2021 agricultural year will fall compared to the 2019/2020 agri-year by 51%, soybeans – by 37.6%, rapeseed – by 20%, vegetable oils – by 23.4%, while sunflower will triple. The balances of supply and demand were announced by the Ministry for Development of Economy, Trade and Agriculture on Thursday.


UMMC mining group seek to return $38-mln withdrawn by former managers

KYIV, Feb 5 – United Mining and Chemical Company (UMMC), which manages Vilnohirsk Mining and Metallurgical Plant (Dnipropetrovsk region) and Irshansk Mining and Processing Plant (Zhytomyr region), has initiated recovery of $38 million withdrawn by the previous management as the company believes.


Government officials working on boosting domestic flights market

KIEV, Feb. 7 – Ukraine's Infrastructure Ministry, State Aviation Service and representatives of the aviation market have decided to draw up calculations of the State Fiscal Service and Finance Ministry. It aims at developing the domestic flights market in the country.

KIEV, Feb. 7 – Ukraine's international reserves as of February 1, 2017, amounted to $15.445 billion, down from $15.539 billion as of the beginning of January 2017, the National Bank of Ukraine said on its website.

KIEV, Feb. 8 – Exports of Ukrainian food to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) fell by 19% in 2016, to $106 million, the Ukrainian Food Export Board (UFEB) reported.

Inflation in January reported at 1.1%, up from December's 0.9%

KIEV, Feb. 8 – Inflation in Ukraine in January 2017 was 1.1% compared to 0.9% in December 2016, the State Statistics Service reported on Wednesday.

In annual terms (compared to the same month last year) inflation in January fell to12.4% from 12.6%.
