VTB shareholders meeting to decide on Vneshtorgbank absorption

KIEV, July 5 - The shareholders of VTB Bank, during a general meeting on Aug. 17, will discuss the issue of the absorption of Vneshtorgbank (Ukraine) into an affiliate.


EBRD to loan Kreditprombank $100m to finance energy projects

KIEV, July 5 -- The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development is making a $100 million A/B loan to Kreditprombank of Ukraine to boost credits to private enterprises, including SMEs (small- and medium-sized enterprises), especially to finance energy efficiency projects, the EBRD announced.


World Bank to decide soon on $500m DPL-2 credit for Ukraine

KIEV, July 5 - The World Bank will decide whether to grant a $500 million credit to Ukraine under the Second Development Policy Loan (DPL-2) within the coming week, the Ukrainian Finance Ministry reported, referring to the outcome of a meeting between Ukrainian First Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Mykola Azarov and World Bank Country Director for Ukraine, Belarus and Moldova Paul Bermingham.


National energy company may spend over UAH100 billion on thermal

KIEV, July 5 - The National Energy Company of Ukraine is to draw up a general strategy on development of thermal electricity generation for the period up to 2030 on the basis of strategies drawn up by the generating companies that the holding manages.


France’s Orangina Group buys 99.7% of Ukrainian soft-drink maker

KIEV, July 5 - France's Orangina Group has completed a deal to buy 99.7% of large Kiev-based Ukrainian soft drink producer Rosynka non-alcoholic beverages bottling plant, according to Tekt company.

The company was engaged in the plant's reorganization.


NBU reports gross reserves up 4.6% in June to nearly $26 billion

KIEV, July 6 - The gross international reserves of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU), Ukraine's central bank, grew by 4.6% or by $1.135 billion in June, to $25.886 billion, the NBU reported.


Consumer prices rise by greater-than-expected 2.2%/month in June

KIEV, July 8 - Ukraine's consumer prices soared 2.2% on the month in June, more than the government expected, led by rapidly growing prices of food due to an expectation of dismal grain harvest.

Japan, Ukraine agree on 471.9-bln yen loan backed by Russian assets

KYIV, 5 June – A loan agreement, which provides for the provision of a loan to Ukraine in the amount of 471.9 billion Japanese yen ($3.3 billion at the current exchange rate), the servicing and repayment of which will be carried out at the expense of future revenues received from immobilized Russian assets, was signed on Thursday by Minister of Finance of Ukraine Serhiy Marchenko and the Head of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Office in Ukraine Hideki Matsunaga.


Energoatom may repair units faster to offset power lost after dam blast

KYIV, June 7 – Energoatom will try to reduce the repair time of nuclear power units, which currently contains four of the nine units available to Ukraine, in order to increase electricity production due to a possible decrease in hydropower generation due to the need to accumulate water in reservoirs located above the Kakhovka one, president of the company Petro Kotin has said.
