EBA members criticize government’s plans to increase taxes on business
KYIV, Sept 5 - Member companies of the European Business Association (EBA) hope that instead of bill No. 11416-d on raising taxes for business, the government will be able to formulate norms that will help fill the state budget in a different way, the association's press service reported on Thursday.

Ukraine’s economy grows 2.7% on year in July vs. 1.1% in June
KYIV, Sept 5 - The growth of Ukraine's gross domestic product (GDP) in July 2024 compared to July last year amounted to about 2.7%, which is better than the June figure of 1.1%, but worse than May and April - 3.7% and 4.3%, respectively, such a preliminary assessment of the Ministry of Economy was published by First Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Economy Yulia Svyrydenko.

Water contaminated by Russians flows into Desna river in Chernihiv
KYIV, Sept 5 - The contaminated water masses, which entered the Desna River from the Seym River, have now reached the village of Boromyky in Chernihiv region, just 38 kilometers from the regional center. The water is now moving along the central and deepest part of the river at a slower pace, according to a press release from the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources.

Central bank removes 13 non-bank entities from market in August
KYIV, Sept 8 – Some 13 participants of the nonbank market were removed in August of this year from the registers: two financial companies, seven insurers (one insurance company left the market voluntarily, six – forcibly), one pawnshop, two credit unions and one leasing company, according to NBU.

Dragon cuts Ukraine’s 2021 growth forecast
KYIV, Sept 8 – Ukraine’s economy will probably grow 3.5% on the year in 2021, not 4.6% earlier expected, reflecting massive deceleration in the second quarter, Tomas Fiala, the head of the Dragon Capital investment bank, said Wednesday.
