Scheduled WANO inspection underway at Rivne plant through Nov. 16

KIEV, Nov. 7 – A scheduled inspection by the Moscow Center of the World Association of Nuclear Operators (WANO) is under way at Rivne Nuclear Power Plant from November 2 to November 16, EnergoAtom national nuclear energy generating company reported on Friday.


Ukraine hit by 11-15% metals price decrease, PM tells cabinet

KIEV, Nov. 7 – The unfavorable situation on the global market entailed a fall in the prices of some types of exported Ukrainian-made metal products by 11-15%, which resulted in the reduction of revenues to the state, Prime Minister Mykola Azarov said while opening a cabinet meeting on Wednesday.

Government reports September payments deficit of $1.1 billion

KIEV, Nov. 7 – The deficit of Ukraine's balance of payments in September totaled $1.102 billion against $2.042 billion in September 2011, according to the National Bank of Ukraine.

Ukraine saw a $615 million surplus of the balance of payments in August 2012.


Parliament gives cenbank power to introduce obligatory forex sales

KIEV, Nov. 7 – Parliament has granted the National Bank of Ukraine the right to introduce for up to six months the obligatory sale of part of foreign exchange earnings and to cut terms for its return.

A total of 237 MPs voted for the bill (No. 11033) on Tuesday.

"The [present] period of instability on the market necessitates stricter controls," NBU Deputy Head Valeriy Prokhorenko said.


Ukraine grain threshing up 29% through Nov. 7, government reports

KIEV, Nov. 7 - Ukraine threshed 52.4 million tons of grain as of November 7, 28.83% more than the same date in 2010, according to the Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry.


Ukrnatsproekt to hire consultant this year for LNG terminal project

KIEV, Nov. 7 – The State Agency for Investment and National Projects Management (Ukrnatsproekt) is planning to hire a financial consultant for work on the construction of a liquefied natural gas terminal by the end of 2011, the head of the state agency, Vladyslav Kaskiv told reporters in Kiev.


Dec. 30 energy privatization tenders awaiting govt nod, says official

KIEV, Nov. 8 – Privatization tenders to sell another five energy companies could be held on December 30 if the Ukrainian government on November 7 signs its decision with the approved conditions of and terms of the companies' privatization, Oleksandr Riabchenko, head of the State Property Fund, told the press in Kiev on Monday.


SPF to sell state-owned regional gas company stakes in Q1 2012

KIEV, Nov. 8 – The State Property Fund is planning to announce first tenders for state-owned stakes in city and regional gas supply companies in the first quarter of 2012 or sell them on stock exchanges, SPF head Oleksandr Riabchenko told journalists in Kiev on Monday.


Ukraine and Iran set to finalize $2.4 billion aircraft contract

KIEV, Nov. 8 - Ukraine and Iran plan to finalize in December the conditions of their cooperation in a $2.4 billion contract for the purchases and setup of joint mass production of the next generation of the An-158 regional jet aircraft, according to Dmytro Kiva, chairman and president and chief designer of Antonov sate enterprise.
