Top NBU advisor hails progress on Ukrainian inflation front
KIEV, Feb. 8 – The inflation figure in January 2011 of 1% has laid the foundation for retaining and strengthening of the price stability achieved last year, according to Valeriy Lytvytsky, the head of the group of advisors to the governor of National Bank of Ukraine.

American Chamber official calls for end to grain export quotas
KIEV, Feb. 8 – The American Chamber of Commerce believes that Ukraine should provide open and transparent grain exports, canceling quotas introduced until March 31, 2011, said Ivan Myroshnychenko, the co-chairman of the ACC agricultural committee.

DTEK announces resumption of electricity exports to Belarus
KIEV, Feb. 7 – DTEK has resumed electricity export to Belarus.
As the holding said in a statement on the London Stock Exchange, "DTEK plans to supply to Belarus guaranteed volume of 1.5 billion kWh of Ukrainian electricity until the end of the year." "Additionally around 1.5 billion kWh might be exported as non-guaranteed supply based on the bilateral negotiations," reads the statement, which confirmed the resumption as of February 5.

Naftogaz: Arbitration group to decide RosUkrEnergo appeal this summer
KIEV, Feb. 9 – Naftogaz Ukrayiny expects that the Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce will this summer finish hearing an appeal by RosUkrEnergo AG (RUE) against the Ukrainian state holding concerning 11 billion cubic meters (bcm) of gas allegedly expropriated from RUE by Naftogaz Ukrayiny. |
Govt blames inflation rise on politics, food and fuel price rises
KIEV, Feb. 9 – Political instability, seasonal increases in prices of dairy products, fruits and vegetables and a rise in the prices of fuel and lubricants were the key factors fueling a rise in inflation in January to 1.8% from 0.9% in December 2009, the Economy Ministry said. |
