5 leading Ukraine debt holders form committee to resist debt writeoff

LONDON, April 9 - The five leading holders of Ukrainian sovereign and quasi-sovereign bonds have formed a creditors' committee to propose a solution to Kiev's debt problems, but resist plans for a writedown under an IMF-led bailout deal, Reuters reported.


IBRD to provide $382 million to modernize 10 heat supply companies

KIEV, April 7 – The International Bank for Reconstruction and Development will provide financing of $382 million to Ukraine to modernize 10 municipal heat supply enterprises, the Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Utilities Economy Ministry reported on Monday.


Third well with Ukrgazvydobuvannia under consideration, Shell says

KHARKIV, April 7 – The question of drilling the third exploration well in the framework of the agreement on joint activities between Shell and PJSC Ukrgazvydobuvannia will be considered after an analysis of data from the first two wells is completed, Shell head in Ukraine Graham Tiley said.

NBU moves to ban banks falling afoul of currency transaction rules

KIEV, April 9 – The National Bank of Ukraine has decided to temporarily ban banks that fail to observe its requirements for carrying out some currency transactions, citing the aim of ensuring the stability of the banks' operations and stimulating bank capitalization.


Average natural gas import price falls 0.7% in March, government says

KIEV, April 8 - Ukraine imported gas at an average price of $416.60 per 1,000 cubic meters in March, down 0.7% from $419.70 per 1,000 cubic meters in February, the Economic Development and Trade Ministry reported.


State concern says it may miss weapons destruction timetable

KIEV, April 9 – The Ukroboronprom state-run concern admitted it may fail to meet time constraints in the realization of Phase II of the NATO/Partnership for Peace Trust Fund's project on weapons, small arms/light weapons destruction in Ukraine, due to the insufficient and uneven financing of the project by donor countries.


Naftogaz Ukrayiny reports $1.28 billion of net loss for 2012

KIEV, April 9 - Naftogaz Ukrayiny, the national oil and gas company, reported 10.2 billion hryvnias, or $1.28 billion, in losses on revenue of 97.4 billion hryvnias in 2012 according to Ukrainian accounting standards.
