Smart-Holding looking to finance $1 billion Crimea resort project

CANNES (France), March 9 – Smart-Holding is in talks with several financial institutions to establish a partnership and raise funds for the Balaklava Green resort project in Crimea, which foresees $1-1.2 billion in investment, according to Smart-Holding Real Estate Project Director Serhiy Ovchynnikov.


SPF and Austrian company to sign Ukrtelekom acquisition deal

KIEV, March 9 – Ukraine's State Property Fund and ESU LLC, a subsidiary of Austria's EPIC Concern, are to sign a sale and acquisition agreement on a state-owned 92.79% stake in telecoms giant OJSC Ukrtelecom on March 11.


Skhidny estimates uranium field development cost at $820 million

KIEV, March 9 - Ukrainian state-owned uranium mining company Skhidny (Eastern) GOK estimates the cost of developing the Novokostiantynivske uranium field, Europe's biggest, at UAH 6.5 billion ($820 million).


Electricity consumption in Ukraine up 10.3% in January-February

KIEV, March 9 - Electricity consumption in Ukraine in January and February, taking into account losses in electricity transmission, grew by 10.3%, or 3.174 billion kilowatt-hours year-on-year, to 33.842 billion kilowatt-hours, the Fuel and Energy Ministry told Interfax-Ukraine.


Azovobschemash to supply equipment for Brazilian Cyclone 4 missile

KIEV, March 10 – OJSC Azovobschemash, part of Azovmash (Mariupol, Donetsk region) has signed a contract to supply equipment for the Cyclone 4 missile launcher being created at the Alcantara launch center in Brazil with Alcantara Cyclone Space bi-national company.


EU/UN technical mission investigating Ivano-Frankivsk emergency

KIEV, March 10 – A technical mission of the European Union and the United Nations investigating the emergency environmental situation in Ivano-Frankivsk region will submit a report to Ukraine on the results of its work within two weeks, a UN official said.


Industrial producer prices up 1.9% in February, government reports

KIEV, March 10 - Prices of industrial producers in Ukraine grew by 1.9% in February, according to the State Statistics Committee.

Prices in the fuel and energy sector grew by 7.4%, and the prices of extracting industry products, apart from fuel and energy, went up by 3.7%.


Icon Private Equity Fund to expand wireless Internet access

KIEV, March 6 - Icon Private Equity investment fund, which in 2009 bought a stake in Ukrainian High Technologies (UHT, the Alternet trademark, Kiev), is intending to develop the project into the largest operator of wireless Internet access in Ukraine, Kyrylo Dmitriyev, the president and managing partner of the fund, told Ekonomicheskiye Izvestiya newspaper.


Auto dealers may forgo importing cars while 13% surcharge lasts

KIEV, March 6 – The Ukrainian Association of Automobile Importers and Dealers (UAAID) has proposed that association members not import cars for the six months when a temporary 13% extra charge on import duty is in effect.

KIEV, March 10 – Three Ukrainian developers have shown the worst share performance during the period of the downturn among the CIS companies that have conducted initial public offerings, according to a report drawn up by the PBN Company, a strategic and financial communications consultancy.
