Canada’s Secova Metals to acquire 90% of Dnipropetrovsk gold deposit

KIEV, July 27 – Canadian-based Secova Metals Corp. has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with a private group to acquire up to a 90% interest in the Sergeevske gold deposit in Dnipropetrovsk region.

Government reports progress toward building Black Sea LNG terminal

KIEV, July 28 - Ukraine is making progress with a project that anticipates building a liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal on the Black Sea to diversify its energy imports, Energy and Fuel Minister Yuriy Boyko said.

Ukrainian government donates $580,000 to UN Ethiopian food aid

KIEV, July 28 – The United Nations World Food Program (WFP) welcomed the first-ever donation of $580,000 in shipments of 1,000 tons of wheat made from the government of Ukraine on July 22, 2009, to support WFP's efforts and to feed close to five million people in Ethiopia who are in need of emergency relief assistance, according to the UN news center.


Analyst predicts fall in 2009 Ukrainian grain harvest, to 38m tons

KIEV, July 28 – The grain harvest in Ukraine in 2009 is to fall to 37-38 million tons, which would still be the second-largest figure over the past 10 years, according to Kernel Group, a large operator on Ukraine's sunflower seed oil market.
