EU calls for clarification of relations between Ukraine and Gazprom

BRUSSELS, March 11 - European Union governments called on Tuesday for Ukraine and Russian natural gas monopoly Gazprom to clarify their relations after a recent spat over debts cut energy supplies to the former Soviet republic, a newswire reported.

KIEV, March 11 - Ukraine's state direct and guaranteed debt will reach 12.9% of GDP by the end of 2008, the Finance Ministry forecasts.

"Ukraine's state debt is several times lower than the admissible maximum of 60%," Deputy Finance Minister Volodymyr Lytvyn said at a Ukrainian investment summit taking place in London on March 10-12.

Growth of consumer prices in Ukraine slows 0.4% in Jan vs. 0.7% in Dec

KYIV, Feb 9 – The growth of consumer prices in Ukraine in January 2024 slowed to 0.4% from 0.7% in December and 0.5% in November, the State Statistics Service reported on Friday.

In January 2023 it was higher – 0.8%, so year-over-year inflation in January of this year fell to 4.7% from 5.1% in December and November.


Ukraine’s power consumption up 3.7% on year to 14.48-bln kWh in January

KYIV, Feb 10 – Power consumption in Ukraine increased 3.7% in January 2021 compared to January 2020, to 14.484 billion kWh, the Ministry of Energy reported.

Excluding in-process losses electricity consumption in January 2021 grew by 5.8%, to 11.662 billion kWh.
