Government converts debt owed to NBU into domestic loan bonds

KIEV, Jan. 13 – Ukraine's Finance Ministry late in 2009 securitized the remaining sum of the Cabinet of Ministers' debt owed to the National Bank of Ukraine into government domestic loan bonds, which will be then transferred to the central bank, the NBU said in a statement.


Most Ukraine mining companies report sharp iron ore production falls

KIEV, Jan. 11 - Most Ukrainian mining companies reduced iron ore production significantly in 2009, while some majors posted increases.

Poltava Mining, the core asset of the London-listed Ferrexpo plc, cut commercial pellet production tentatively 3% to 8.767 million tons, including 772,500 tons in December, the company said in a press release.


Ukrenergo announces auction for access to interstate power lines

KIEV, Jan. 12 - Ukrenergo has announced an auction for access to Ukrainian interstate power lines to make electricity exports for the period from February 1 to February 28.


Electricity generation by EnergoAtom reported down 7.7% in 2009

KIEV, Jan. 12 - Electricity generation by EnergoAtom fell by a preliminary 7.7% or 6.963 billion kWh in 2009, to 83.155 billion kWh, EnergoAtom announced.

Last year the electricity generation target was over-fulfilled by 1.1%.


NBU reports drop in transaction fees charged by commercial banks
