Ukrainian companies sharply reduce sunflower oil export shipments

KIEV, May 12 - Ukrainian companies have practically halted shipments of sunflower oil for export, despite receiving designated export quotes, the general director of the Ukroliaprom association, Stepan Kapshuk, said at a press conference at Interfax-Ukraine on Monday.


Ukrainian bank profits hit UAH3.9 billion through April 30, up 70%

KIEV, May 12 - Ukrainian banks' saw a net profit of UAH3.9 billion in January to April, 70% more than during the same period last year, the National Bank of Ukraine reported on Monday.


Transport ministry in talks over new Boryspil passenger terminal

VS Energy International signs Siemens contract for gas turbines

KIEV, May 13 – VS Energy International Ukraine has signed a contract on the supply of four gas turbine plants for Izmail combined cycle electric generating plant in Odessa region, the construction of which is to start in June, with the Swedish division of Siemens, the Ukrainian company reported.


Industrial production in Ukraine up 8% YTD through April 30

KIEV, May 13 - Industrial production in Ukraine grew 8% in January-April, the State Statistics Committee reported.

Industrial production fell 1% on the previous month in April 2008 and was up 8.3% year-on-year.


Vanco subsidiary may sue govt for violating production agreement

KIEV, May 12 - Kiev-based Vanco Prykerchenska Ltd could launch international arbitration proceedings against the Ukrainian government for allegedly not honoring a production-sharing agreement (PSA).


US Agriculture Dept predicts increase in grain harvest this year

KIEV, May 13 - The U.S. Department of Agriculture has predicted that the grain harvest in Ukraine will total 39.67 million tons in 2008 compared to the U.S. agency's estimate of 28.49 million tons in 2007.
