Ukraine selected to host annual World Newspaper Congress in 2012
KIEV, June 9 – The Executive Committee of the World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers (WAN-IFRA) meeting on June 9 in Zurich (Switzerland), chose Ukraine as the venue for the 2012 World Newspaper Congress, World Editors Forum and Info Services Expo, according to Focus online. |
World Bank loans $200 million to Ukreximbank for energy project
KIEV, June 10 – The World Bank has approved a $200 million loan for Ukraine’s State Export-Import Bank (Ukreximbank) as part of an energy efficiency project in Ukraine.
The Ukrainian bank said that the guarantee agreement between Ukraine and the World Bank and the loan agreement between Ukreximbank and the World Bank were signed on June 10. |
Hera Group to invest EUR30 million in Crimean waste recycling plant
KIEV, June 10 – Spain's Hera Group plans to build a garbage recycling plant in Crimea, investing over EUR 30 million into the waste recycling sector through a Joint Implementation (JI) mechanism as a part of the Kyoto protocol, reads a posting on the Web site of the Crimean Council of Ministers. |
Cenbank advisor: Market mechanisms drove NBU $2 billion forex rise
KIEV, June 11 – The National Bank of Ukraine has increased its forex reserves by $2 billion, to $28.5 billion, using only market mechanisms and giving a signal of reliability of the bank's positions to the market, according to Valeriy Lytvytsky, the head of the group of advisors to the NBU governor. |
Akhmetov tops Ukraine’s richest people list for third straight year
KIEV, March 13 – Regions Party MP Rinat Akhmetov has topped this year's list of the richest people by the Korrespondent Magazine for the third year running.
The magazine estimates the fortune of the Donetsk businessman, head of financial and industrial holding System Capital Management, and president of Shakhtar football club at $17.8 billion. |
