Chornobyl Company to sign deals with NOVARKA, Holtec on Sept. 17

KIEV, Sept. 13 – The state-owned Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant Company on Sept. 17 is to sign a contract on the building of a new safe confinement with France's NOVARKA and a contract on the completion of the building of the waste nuclear fuel storage facility two with U.S. Holtec, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development spokesman Anton Usov, told Interfax-Ukraine.


Ukraine not planning to resume electricity supplies to Russia in 2007

KIEV, Sept. 13 – Ukraine is not planning by late 2007 to resume commercial supplies of its electricity to Russia due to the absence of surplus electricity on the domestic market, Andriy Turos, UkrInterEnergo deputy director for electricity exports, told the press in Kiev on Wednesday.

"Electricity to Russia by the end of the year will be supplied in minimum volumes, needed to cover technical overflows between power grids.


US ready to suspend antidumping case against Ukraine, says official

KIEV, Sept. 13 – Ukrainian steel mills and the Industry and Economy ministries are completing talks with the U.S. Department of Trade on a new agreement on the suspension of the antidumping investigation into Ukrainian-made cut-to-length carbon steel plates, said Ihor Kirichenko, the ministry’s mining sector department head.
