EBRD readying another €350 million for Chernobyl confinement project

KIEV, Nov. 13 – The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development is ready to send an additional EUR 350 million for construction of the New Safe Confinement (NSC) at Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant, EBRD Director for Nuclear Safety Vince Novak said.


Poltava Petroleum Company threatens to suspend gas production

KIEV, Nov. 13 - Poltava Petroleum Company could suspend gas production, CFO Yevhen Palenka told reporters.

He said that cabinet resolution No. 599 passed on November 7 also contains a requirement, according to which private gas producers could be even banned from pumping gas into underground storage facilities.


Ukraine may hold off on Russian natgas payment as it faces insolvency

KIEV, Nov. 13 - Ukraine signaled it may hold off from paying Russia's billion-dollar gas invoice - part of an EU-brokered agreement to restart supplies frozen since June - in the hope mild weather can help it last out longer as it grapples with near-bankruptcy, Reuters reported.


S&P lowers rating on Ukrainian Agrarian Investments to 'B-'

KIEV, Nov. 11 - Standard & Poor's Ratings Services has lowered its long-term foreign and local currency corporate credit ratings on Ukraine-based farming group Ukrainian Agrarian Investments S.A. (UAI) to 'B-' from 'B', reads an agency report.


Ukrgazvydobuvannia: Naftogaz has stiffed us for UAH2.3 billion YTD

KIEV, Nov. 11 – Ukrgazvydobuvannia says it hasn't received payments since June for locally produced gas, which, in keeping with Ukrainian laws, is sold to Naftogaz Ukrayiny for resale to households.

The total debts owed by Naftogaz, which is Ukrgazvydobuvannia's parent company, were UAH 2.3 billion as of October 31.

KIEV, Nov. 12 – Pillar (Kiev), a Ukrainian manufacturer of silicon ingots and sheeting, plans to achieve breakeven in 2014 due to the rule of "local content," company chairman Illia Zinchenko said in an interview with the magazine Delo.

Ukrspecexport small arms shipment seized in Greece en route to Libya

KIEV, Nov. 12 – The State Service of Export Controls of Ukraine has confirmed the issuing of a one-time permit to Ukrspecexport subsidiary Ukrinmash State Enterprise for the supply of small arms ammunition to Libya, noting however that they have no information about the specific content of the military cargo on board of the Sierra Leone-flagged Nour M ship, which was detained in Greece.


Petroleum imports stuck at customs, says Odessa’s Rompetrol-Ukraine

KIEV, Nov. 12 - Petroleum products imported by LLC Rompetrol-Ukraine (Odessa) have not been able to pass through customs since early November, the company's press service said.
