Electricity market law takes effect, meeting EU requirements

KIEV, June 12 - The law on the electricity market came into force on June 11 after its official publication in the Uriadovy Kurier newspaper.

President Petro Poroshenko signed the law on June 8.


Government seeking to annul restrictions to stimulate automakers

KIEV, June 13 – Ukraine's Economic Development and Trade Ministry has proposed to annul earlier imposed restrictions for automobile makers that import goods for industrial production at a zero rate aiming to stimulate Ukrainian vehicle manufacturers.


Smoke reported emanating from Chernobyl nuclear plant reactor

KIEV, June 13 - Smoke was reported at Unit 3 of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant on Tuesday, which was eliminated in three minutes, the Ukrainian State Nuclear Regulation Inspectorate reported.


New An-132D plane demonstrator to make debut at Paris Air Show

Russian tax man penalizes Poroshenko's Roshen LLC for dividend

KIEV, June 14 – The decision of the Federal Tax Service of the Russian Federation to collect 150 million Russian rubles from subsidiary of Roshen Corporation (Kiev) – Roshen LLC (Lipetsk) for dividends removed to Ukraine is apparently not in line with the agreement on avoidance of double taxation signed by the Ukrainian and Russian governments on February 8, 1995.


Metal company retrofit and upgrade spending reported down 10.7% in Q1

KIEV, June 12 - Ukrainian metal companies cut investment in retrofitting and upgrading by 10.7% or UAH 177 million in January-March 2015 year-over-year, to UAH 1.48 billion.


EnergoAtom asks Poroshenko for help in standoff with Foreign Ministry

KIEV, June 12 – The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry continues to block the EnergoAtom and Energy and the Coal Industry initiatives denouncing the bilateral intergovernmental agreement with Russia on the completion of two reactors of Khmelnytsky nuclear power plant, and EnergoAtom has said it has been forced to ask for the help of the President Petro Poroshenko.


Inflation will hit 45%-50% this year, says NBU deputy governor

KIEV, June 11 - Inflation in Ukraine in 2015 will amount to 45-50%, while next year it will slow to 10-12%, and in 2017 – to 7%, according to the National Bank of Ukraine.


Rusal to fight SPF seizure of 68% ZAlK stake in international court

KIEV, June 11 – Rusal (Russia) has confirmed its plans to protect its interess in the international courts after the issue of rulings of Ukrainian courts on the return of a 68.01% stake in public joint-stock company Zaporizhia Aluminium Complex (ZAlK) to state ownership, and sending the securities to the account of the State Property Fund of Ukraine.


USDA upwardly revises wheat harvest forecast by 1 million tons

KIEV. June 11 – The U.S. Department of Agriculture has revised upward its forecast for the wheat harvest in Ukraine and its exports in the new agricultural year by 1 million tons compared to the previous month forecast, to 23 million tons and 11.5 million tons, respectively.
