USDA increases forecast for Ukraine’s 2008 grain harvest weight

KIEV, Aug. 14 – The United States Department of Agriculture has forecast that the grain harvest in Ukraine in 2008 will be almost 45.5 million tons, which is 2.8 million tons higher than the previous forecast it made a month ago.

New USDA report revises coarse grain yield forecast down to 14m tons

KIEV, Aug. 13 – The United States Department of Agriculture published a new grain report where it reviewed the forecast of Ukraine's coarse grain yield in 2007 downwards to 14.05 million tons from 15.41 million tons forecast by USDA a month earlier.


UkrNafta net profit down sharply for first half of the year

KIEV, Aug. 13 – Net profit of Kiev-based UkrNafta, Ukraine's largest oil producer, amounted to UAH405.409 million, down sharply from UAH1.134 billion in the first half of 2006.


EBRD may lend UkrTransNafta $65 million for oil metering units

KIEV, Aug. 13 – The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development may lend $65 million to Ukrainian oil transport company UkrTransNafta, the EBRD reported.


Associations call for extension of grain export restrictions

KIEV, Aug. 13 – It is necessary to prolong existing restrictions on grain exports, which expire Oct. 1, past their expiration date and until the end of the 2007/2008 marketing year, which runs through June, said the Ukrainian associations of meat and bread producers and Ukrspyrt, Ukraine's state alcohol industry concern.


Work begins on UAH150 million Odessa power transmission lines

KIEV, Aug. 13 – Odessa-based ChornomorEnergoSpetsMontazh Ltd. has started building the 110 kW Artsiz-Bolhrad and Bolhrad-Budzhak-Reni power transmission lines, OdessaOblEnergo, the electricity supply company that ordered the building of these lines, told Interfax-Ukraine.

Investors sought for methane gas extraction in two Donetsk mines

KIEV, Aug. 14 - Ukraine will seek investors to implement projects to extract and use the methane gas that massively accompanies coal deposits at two big coal mines in Donetsk region, the coal industry ministry reported Tuesday.
