EU’s carbon adjustment may cost Ukraine EUR 396-mln annually thru 2030

KYIV, Dec 13 – The introduction by the European Union of the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) may lead to an annual reduction in revenues of Ukrainian companies to EUR 396 million annually during 2026-2030, and Ukraine's GDP will decrease by 0.08% annually, according to a study by Kyiv School of Economics (KSE).


Germany tops choice for Ukrainians seeking to leave country for work

KYIV, Dec 13 – Some 47.8% of Ukrainians would like to leave for permanent or temporary work in Germany, if they had the opportunity, according to the results of a study conducted by the Ilko Kucheriv Democratic Initiatives Foundation jointly with Kyiv International Institute of Sociology, on request the Institute for Central European Strategy within the framework of the special project Re: Open Zakarpattia.


Ukraine’s Finance Ministry to raise EUR 600-mln via 2033-Eurobond issue

KYIV, Dec 11 – The Ministry of Finance, in the process of additional placement of eurobonds maturing in 2033, increased its volume from the initial $500 million to $600 million and, due to three times more demand, was able to reduce the rate from the initial 6.4% to 6.2%, a source in banking circles told Interfax-Ukraine.


Ukraine’s economy to expand 4.8% on year in 2021, Alfa Bank forecasts

KYIV, Dec 11 – Alfa Bank expects real GDP rise by 4.8% in Ukraine in 2021 after its projected decline by 4.6% over 2020 and acceleration of average annual inflation to 7.3% in 2021, which will almost triple the expected average annual inflation rate in 2020 (2.7%).

KYIV, Dec 12 - The National Commission for Energy, Housing and Utilities Services (NCER) has approved the increase in the weighted average tariff of Ukrenergo for electricity transmission in 2019 by 19.3%, to 5.93 kopecks per kWh (excluding VAT).


Cabinet approves EU’s EUR 54-mln energy efficiency support project

KYIV, Dec 12 - The Cabinet of Ministers has approved a draft agreement on the European Union's providing technical assistance to Ukraine in the amount EUR 54 million to finance the EE4U-II energy efficiency support program, and also approved draft agreements on two other programs.
