Ukraine’s power exports to EU fall 7.2% y-o-y in first half
KIEV, July 12 - Ukraine's power exports to the European Union decreased 7.2% year-on-year to 2.34 billion kilowatt-hours in January-June, down from 2.52 billion kWh exported one year ago, an energy and fuel ministry official said Friday. |
Energoatom, Westinghouse to design new cooling system for VVER-440
KYIV, June 14 – The state-owned enterprise Energoatom and the U.S. Westinghouse have signed a contract to design, manufacture and deliver Long-Term Containment Cooling Systems for the modernization of two VVER-440 power units of one of the Ukrainian nuclear power plants.

ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih cuts steel production to 20% of pre-war level
KYIV, June 14 – ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih (Dnipropetrovsk region) due to problems with providing the enterprise with process water after the Russian occupiers blew up the dam of Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant (HPP), reduced production to 15%-20% of the pre-war level from 30%-40% achieved recently.

NEFCO cancels 18 energy efficiency projects in Ukraine due to bureaucracy
KYIV, June 11 – NEFCO (Nordic Environment Finance Corporation) over the past three years canceled energy efficiency projects in 18 Ukrainian cities due to bureaucratic obstacles, which is approximately 20% of the organization's investments, and losses from unrealized projects are estimated at about EUR 35 million, Chief Investment Advisor at NEFCO in Ukraine Yulia Shevchuk said during the 12th European-Ukrainian Energy Day.

Agency works on bill to allow consumers build own renewable power assets
KYIV, June 14 – The State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving expects to complete work on a bill on the implementation of the Net Energy Metering mechanism by December, designed to encourage electricity consumers to install renewable energy generating facilities for their own consumption without a feed-in tariff, agency deputy chairman Yuriy Shafarenko said.
