USDA increases Ukraine 2009 grain harvest forecast by 1 million tons

KIEV, Sept. 14 - The United States Department of Agriculture has forecast the grain harvest in Ukraine in 2009 at 42.45 million tons, which is 1 million tons up on the forecast it made a month ago.

There are grounds to prolong auto import duties, says minister

KIEV, Sept. 12 – There are all good reasons to prolong the 25% car import duty until late 2008, Industry Minister Volodymyr Novitsky said.

"Everything will depend on how the Verkhovna Rada votes [whether the parliament overrides the veto of the president on the law that prolongs this duty], but I as the head of the industrial sector, think that there are grounds for its prolongation," he told the press at the Stolychne Auto Show, which opened in Kiev on Friday.
